Moving can be stressful, but with a new application for the Apple iPad from State Farm®, anyone can get help with their next move. Called “MoveTools™,” this application is a relocation planning and household inventory assistant. It is free to download and is designed specifically for the Apple iPad.

MoveTools™ gives people a fresh approach to planning a move; all the resources needed are in one place. With MoveTools™, users can customize a weekly moving checklist to help plan their move and then create an inventory of their possessions. Users can then create and print “smart labels” with digital QR Codes, which can be read by smartphones with barcode reading applications. A quick scan of the label on a box will display a list of what’s packed inside.

“MoveTools™ blends innovation with utility in something that’s useful to people during one of the biggest moments in their lives,” said Patty Gaumond, assistant vice president of Enterprise Internet Solutions at State Farm. “Leveraging new technology is just one of the ways we’re being there for our customers.”

This is the first application from an insurer designed to assist people with relocation – another first from State Farm. In August 2010, State Farm released the insurance industry’s first Android widget, called “On the Move,” aimed at combating the issue of distracted driving.

For details and to download MoveTools™, visit www.statefarm.com/moving or visit www.statefarm.com/mobile to see other mobile offerings from State Farm.

Engadget has a very new source regarding something that everyone wants to know, and that is Apple’s next iPhone and iPad. So let’s head straight to the main point. Source close to Apple claims that the next iPhone is already being tested by senior officers on campus only, which means the phone has passed early design stage.

The phone is a completely redesigned handset, on track for a summer launch this year. It’s currently being tested on site at Apple’s campus. The phone will have a brand new Apple A5 CPU derived from a Cortex A9-based multi-core chip. It’ll feature a Qualcomm chipset that will do three jobs, and that is CDMA/GSM/UMTS radio frequency. That means the next iPhone will have CDMA and GSM support together, eliminating the need for a separate phone. The current Verizon CDMA iPhone 4 is using a dedicated CDMA-only Qualcomm chipset. Also, notice the missing of LTE here.

The iPad will also feature the same Qualcomm chipset to offer GSM and CDMA together. The screen size will be the same 10-inch, but it’s getting a brand new display technology similar (but not the same) as the iPhone 4’s Retina Display, and will have “super high resolution”. There’s the front and back camera that we all know about, but there’s also the surprise SD slot. No USB port here though. Apple has set April as the time for the launch of iPad 2.

Besides the iPhone and iPad getting a new look, the Apple TV will also get some refresh. It’s going to get the same A5 processor that the iPhone will have, and is blazingly fast that it’s “going to crank out 1080p video like running water”. The source did not confirm the present of the new A5 chip on the iPad 2 though.

It seemed so, because there’s not only one vendor of iPad accessory showing iPad 2 products, but two. This time they’re not only showing cases for iPad 2, but also a foldable rechargeable battery?

Gopod Mobile was showing off an iPad 2 based foldable rechargeable battery pack developed by the company, and depicts the revised devices redesigned curves, ports, and cameras; it is said by Gopod to represent the actual appearance of the as-yet-unreleased thinner and slightly smaller iPad. That said they have a mock up iPad 2 to illustrate better how their accessories match with the upcoming iPad 2.

The iPad 2 replica that they have at the show has a front-sided camera hold, enlarged speaker grill and a backside camera. It also follows the tapered edges with flat-back that has been depicted in numerous case designs, besides the 128GB engraved behind the mock up. So, we’ve seen few cases for iPad 2 with very similar designs, and now 2 mockups of the iPad 2 at CES. Clearly this is as near as it gets. Apple is expected to launch the iPad 2 in the first quarter of 2011 with some expecting an announcement within the next few weeks.

While I can certainly see a difference in the colors of the two phones, I think it is possibly explained by simply a different color temperature, rather than a faulty screen. With that in mind, I wish I had an older 2.5 model around for a side-by-side comparison since I don’t see an issue with my screen.

Are any of you guys noticing this yellow hue? I’d be interested to hear just how many of you are noticing this, and whether or not it quite as visible without being next to an original iPhone.

iSuppli released some information regarding how much the new iPhone 3G really cost Apple. Based on their calculation, Apple seems to be making roughly fifty fuve percent profit margin. While iSuppli did not count into research and development cost, the number is quite interesting.

Stripping off the new iPhone 3G for component lists and price them individually, iSuppli determined that a 8GB iPhone 3G costs $173.33 to build. AT&T is rumored to be paying Apple $300 subsidy on each iPhone 3G sales, that put the iPhone 3G total prices to $499 for the 8GB version and translate to the fifty five percent margin stated above.

“iSuppli believes Apple aimed for a more cost-effective design for the 3G iPhone compared to the 2G, in order to lower the retail price – which will allow the company to seed adoption and to capture maximum market share now – while the company still has buzz and a perceived differentiation relative to its competitors.”

If this number hold any truth, Apple’s one million iPhone 3G sold during the weekend should put its quarterly earning higher than before.
