South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung is gearing up for the launch of a new member of its already popular Galaxy S family of handsets, namely the Galaxy S Plus, if the latest reports on the matter are to be believed.

Apparently, the company would aim at rising the bar when it comes to the performance levels that its Galaxy S smartphones can offer, thus aiming at packing the new device with a single-core 1.4GHz processor.

<ins><ins id="aswift_2_anchor"></ins></ins>

In all fairness, the Samsung Galaxy S II, which sports a dual-core application processor, and which was already unveiled to the world, might perform better than this device.

However, this does not mean that the new Galaxy S Plus might not offer the wanted performance levels, and the phone’s specs list seems to show that it might actually do so.

The aforementioned high-speed processor would be complemented by 8GB of internal memory, most probably by a microSD memory card slot with support for additional storage space.

Moreover, the new mobile phone is said to come with a four-inch Super AMOLED display, as well as with a 1650mAh battery inside (the original Galaxy S came with a 1500mAh battery inside). It should also support HD video recording capabilities.

Among the other details that are currently available on the new mobile phone , we can count the fact that it might sport model number I9001. The new mobile phone is also said to be running under Google’s Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system.

At the same time, the new Samsung Galaxy S Plus is expected to arrive on the market sometime at the end of April in Russia, with a price tag of 23,990 rubles (around $850) attached to it.

All in all, it seems that Samsung is gearing up for the release of an appealing sequel for the Galaxy S, though it remains to be seen how much of the above mentioned specs would pan out.

Concept devices are always a reason to be amazed, and the newly spotted Triple Flip phone is among those which would easily make you want more.

The new Triple Flip concept handset comes from SchultzeWORKS design studio, and runs Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 operating system, being the very first such device to be powered by this platform.

The development team behind this concept phone claims that the whole project is based on the idea that the functionality of touchscreen handsets might reach its limits of usefulness in the not too far future.

<ins><ins id="aswift_2_anchor"></ins></ins>

“We looked at the areas where smart phones were falling short and then delivered seven innovations to make them truly better. We had a few more, but seven was a good place to stop,” lead designer Dave Schultze explains.

Since this is a concept device, the hardware specifications it would boast are not relevant, but the functionality it can deliver is noteworthy.

Another important factor is the fact that this device runs under the Windows Phone 7 platform, a rather new OS to the market.

Available handsets powered by it might already be impressive, but it seems that there is a lot of room for much more appealing handsets.

Not to mention that the OS itself was received rather well around the world, and that there are some who expect it to prove a great competitor in the battle against Google’s Android and Apple’s iOS platforms.

The work on the new Triple Flip project was focused mainly on reshaping the manner in which cell phones operate at the moment.

“The final design result is a fresh new take on all aspects of the user experience, from mobile video to gaming to solar re-charging — and quite a bit more,” a post on SchultzeWORKS reads.

“The group of innovative features that resulted proved dynamic enough to require a ‘high-techno’ 3D animation in order to capture the intensely kinetic nature of the styling.”

You can learn a few more details on the new concept phone through the photos attached to this article, as well as from the video embedded below.

Mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless is expected to make available for purchase on its airwaves a new, highly appealing smartphone in the not too far future, namely the HTC ThunderBolt, but specific info on the handset’s release date lack at the moment.

However, following a wide range of rumors on the possible arrival of this device before the end of February, which didn’t pan out in the end, some new reports on the matter started to emerge.

<ins><ins id="google_ads_frame4_anchor"></ins></ins>

Some suggest that the new high-end device would be set to become available for purchase at Verizon as soon as this week, but recently leaked documents (via Android Central) tell a different story.

Apparently, the HTC ThunderBolt would be set to arrive on shelves on March 10th, while sporting a price tag of $299 with the signing of a two-year contract agreement with the wireless carrier (via phonedog).

This would be Verizon’s first phone with support for the 4G LTE (Long Term Evolution) network the carrier fired up in December.

It seems to be a great device, but the $299 price tag would make it less appealing than what some might expect, and the listed $749.99 off contract price tag is not helping either.

However, it would not come too much as a surprise if Verizon did launch the smartphone at this cost next month.

For those out of the loop, we should note that the specs list of this Android 2.2 Froyo-based device includes a large 4.3-inch WVGA touchscreen display, along with a 1GHz Snapdragon processor.

Moreover, the new mobile phone includes an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with HD video recording capabilities, as well as a microSD memory card slot, with a 32GB card included into the mix from the start.

Other specs of this device would include wireless DLNA and Mobile Hotspot capabilities (supports up to 8 Wi-Fi devices), as well as support for download speeds of 5 to 12 Mbps and upload speeds of 2 to 5 Mbps on Verizon’s LTE network.

Since nothing is official on the phone’s landing and on its price tag, we’ll take the new reports on its availability with a grain of salt.

Even though details about the upcoming release of the smartphone were scarce, it looks like the device is listed by an online retailer and available for pre-orders.

According to Play.com, LG Optimus 2X is due for release on March 18th and has been priced at £469.99, contract-free.

Furthermore, Optimus 2X pre-orders were available in the UK three weeks ago, when Expansys introduced the smartphone for £499.99.

However, Expansys mentioned initially that LG Optimus 2X is expected to be shipped starting February 21st, but recently changed the release date for March 19th. This makes it almost official, as both online retailers will ship the Optimus 2X around the same date.

Among the highlights of the device, it is worth mentioning that the dual-core Tegra 2 system-on-a-chip found in the LG Optimus 2X was developed by NVIDIA and runs at a clock speed of 1GHz.

The dual-core CPU boasts low power consumption and high performance for playing video and audio.

In addition, users will experience faster web browsing and smoother gameplay compared with single-core processors running at the same speed.

LG Optimus 2X also offers 1080p HD video playback and HDMI recording . It also packs both rear- and front-facing cameras, microSD memory expandability (up to 32GB), 8GB storage (380 MB RAM user-available) and a hefty 1500mAh battery.

The phone is HSDPA and HSUPA compatible and it features Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP connectivity, DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) function, as well as GPS with A-GPS support.

According to LG, the phone will initially be released with Android 2.2 (Froyo) and will be upgradeable to Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). The Korean manufacturer vaguely stated that the upgrade schedule would be announced in local markets in due course.

As expected, Samsung has officially introduced some of the devices that were leaked about two weeks ago. The Korean manufacturer is expanding its Galaxy lineup with four new smartphones: Galaxy Ace, Galaxy Fit, Galaxy Gio and Galaxy mini.

<ins><ins id="google_ads_frame5_anchor"></ins></ins>

All four Android-based phones seem to be less proficient compared to their Galaxy S sibling, when it comes to hardware. However, it seems rather logical to offer the Galaxy smartphone experience to customers who cannot afford to buy the original device, as well.

Samsung Galaxy Ace is a mid-level device, powered by an 800MHz processor and based on the Android 2.2 Froyo platform.

It packs a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, as well as GPS with A-GPS support.

The phone is quad-band GSM compatible, includes HSDPA technology and comes with a 3.5-inch HVGA TFT display.

Samsung Galaxy Fit is an entry-level bar smartphone; it is powered by a 600MHz processor. Aside from the fact that it sports a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus, Galaxy Fit features almost the same spec sheet as LG’s Optimus One.

It comes with a 3.31-inch QVGA TFT display, Android 2.2 Froyo, HSDPA, GPS with A-GPS support, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity.

Samsung Galaxy Gio is also a mid-tier handset powered by an 800MHz processor and runs Android 2.2 Froyo.

It comes with a 3.2-inch HVGA TFT display, 3-megapixel camera with autofocus, HSDPA, GPS with A-GPS support, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity.

Samsung Galaxy mini features a 3.14-inch QVGA TFT display and a 3-megapixel camera with fixed-focus.

The entry-level smartphone is powered by a 600MHz processor and runs Android 2.2 Froyo. It is quad-band GSM compatible and comes with GPS with A-GPS support, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, as well as HSDPA.

“In creating the Samsung Galaxy smartphone line-up, we wanted to expand on the things that made the Samsung Galaxy S such a runaway success whilst diversifying our product range. Each device delivers something different, with the idea that each user is an individual and wants their mobile experience to be easy and fun,” said JK Shin, president and head of Samsung’s Mobile Communications Business.

“With these four Samsung Galaxy smartphones we help them share the joy they have in their lives and bring their experiences to their friends and family,” added Shin.

The new Samsung Galaxy smartphones will be showcased at the Mobile World Congress expo.

Starting on February 14, we will be there to keep you up to date with live reports on the latest product launches and presentations.

Leaked two weeks ago as Galaxy S Mini, the Galaxy Ace is close to an official announcement as the device has just made its appearance on the Samsung Indonesia website.

<ins><ins id="google_ads_frame5_anchor"></ins></ins>

Even though most of the spec sheet of the device is already known, this comes as a confirmation of the unofficial information that had been available so far.

Furthermore, it is interesting to notice that the smartphone does not come with an AMOLED display, instead it embeds a 3.5-inch HVGA touch screen with 320 × 480 pixels resolution.

It seems that Samsung Indonesia has not given specific info on the phone’s CPU, but rumors point to a Qualcomm MSM7227 800 MHz processor.

Samsung Galaxy Ace, also known as Cooper, runs on the Android 2.2 (Froyo) stock platform and it will feature quad-band GSM support (GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900), as well as HSDPA dual-band support (900 / 2100 MHz).

Other features revealed on the official Samsung website include: HSDPA 7.2Mbps, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n connectivity, GPS with A-GPS support, 5-megapixel camera with LED flash and video recording capabilities (320 x 240), Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP support, Social Hub, Swype keyboard, Stereo FM Radio with RDS, 156 MB user memory, as well as microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

Samsung S8530 Galaxy Ace is powered by a standard Li-Ion 1350 mAh battery, rated by the manufacturer for up to 640 hours (420 hours for 3G) of standby time or 11 hours (6 hours 30 minutes for 3G) of talk time.

By the look of it, the Galaxy Ace is a low-budget Android smartphone, which will probably compete with LG’s Optimus One.

Apparently, Samsung plans to release more “mini” versions for some of its most popular handsets, but there’s no telling which and how many of these devices will be “re-sized.”

Information regarding the phone’s price and release date hasn’t been revealed yet, but it’s likely that we will see this one showcased at the 2011 Mobile World Congress.

Starting on February 14, we will be there to keep you up to date with live reports on the latest product launches and presentations.

The first mobile phones and tablet that pack a dual-screen form factor already started to emerge into the wild, but this might be just the beginning of change in the mobile space, at least when it comes to the concept phone area.

A new device emerged here, one that sports not only three displays, but also a foldable design, and the option to be used as a tablet PC as well.

The new concept phone differentiates itself from all of the existing handsets mainly courtesy of the said three screens, each of them being customizable according to user’s needs, and which can delvier a brand new form factor to the mobile area.

According to its designer, this phone has a flip form factor. When folded, the handset would look as any other candybar device today.

But one can also use the phone with each screen visible from the outside, as in the first photo attached to this article, which would greatly increase its usability.

Due to the touchbased interaction every smartphone device is now a flat rectangle with a screen on it, making it difficult for both the user and the manufactures to differentiate the devices from each other.

“Due to the touchbased interaction every smartphone device is now a flat rectangle with a screen on it, making it difficult for both the user and the manufactures to differentiate the devices from each other,” Interaction Designer Kristian Ulrich Larsen states.

“This phone is trying to change that. The unique form and unique way of interacting with it, is supposed to set it apart from other phones, but more importantly it’s supposed to add value for the user, making the experience of using a smartphone even more exiting and engaging.”

As stated above, the device can be used as a phone or as a tablet PC, while also being able to run multiple apps at the same time.

“The phone has 3 screens that can be transformed in different ways depending on what the user wants to do with it. Having 3 screens on a phone opens up a number of possibilities in dealing with the content on the device. Because people no longer only use their phone as a communication device,” Kristian Ulrich Larsen continues.
