Ford doesn’t want to leave any stone unturned to restore their place in the North American auto industry and in the process, it comes up with some innovative moves. This is perhaps what motivated them to convert 21 parts from a new Ford Focus into musical instruments for UK Ford’s hot promotion crusade. For this work, Ford appointed two designers from the United States, composer Craig Richey and sound designer Bill Milbrodt, who produced some really innovative musical instruments and that too from the regular production line itself. They twisted 31 musical devices like Door Harp, Clutch Guitar and Fender Bass, from the car accessories only. The campaign, to be broadcasted on ITV from 4th February onwards, will start with an orchestra performing the music using newly shaped instruments. Call it sheer buoyancy or a commercial innovation; you may expect something fresh and significant from Ford.

LEGO blocks as plaything are way down the pecking order for me. Not so for David McNeely. This guy is one crazy fanatic for LEGOs. His latest creation is a guitar made up of LEGO blocks.

And before you even think about it, let me make it crystal clear. This one’s fully functional. Plug it into a Guitar Hero (PS2) and it will work a fully functional controller. McNeely has achieved similar feats in the past and his resume already includes three working Guitar Hero controllers.

This latest LEGO creation is modeled after fender Geddy Lee Jazz Bass Guitar. David has proceeded very methodically to create this baby. First he took out the guts of the original GH controller and then simply placed it inside a LEGO chassis, which by the way he designed himself.

Every part of the original controller finds a place on the LEGO avatar. Thus, there’s a whammy bar (admittedly in an awkward position), a strum bar, start/select button and the Fret buttons. David says that this is the best out of his three attempts as yet. The best part of it all is that it took him only four days to make it. Wow! He must really love his LEGOs.

Don’t have the same passion for your bike, when you first bought it, you may better turn it into a guitar featuring tone and volume controls and a single humbucker, which will not only save your handful of bucks but also quench your musical thirst.

After finishing the Swansonator5000, bike-turned-guitar, you would definitely love to play it hard and sweat out. Don’t worry, the guitar embraces the original bottle holder if you require some fluid (soft or hard, it’s you choice) while performing in front of audience.
