Esslinger’s DNA-based tattoos to bring convergence of man and machine

Tattooing is as old as human civilization itself. It symbolizes a person, a religion, a commodity and many more. However, Hartmut Esslinger uses tattoos for a different purpose. He has designed DNA-based tattoos, called Dattoos, which will bring an ultimate convergence of man and machine in near the future.

The Dattoo is all about achieving personal identification. It simply uses human body as hardware and skin as an interface. It captures DNA from human and interfaces with skin enabling people an easy way of direct participation in the political and cultural landscape. It will also create a connecting link for the people through engagement with their areas of interest.

Esslinger’s Dattoos will provide vital inputs for the development of DNA reader, nanosensors, interactive touch reading chips, bionic nano chips, directional laser speakers and full voice interaction tools.
