Thoughts to enable actions in second life

thoughts to action

Presto, says the magician and waves his wand, and we clap as things rise in air or some flowers come to his hand from thin air, or things start moving and falling into line. We love these explainable tricks that the magician can easily explicate. But, what if I can shop, play and make friends using my thoughts only, without moving my body! What magic will I be using?

If what these Japanese scientists and researchers claim holds true and their research is successful, then we can use only our thoughts to do various actions for us!

Dr. Junichi Ushiba, an associate professor at Keio University, who has been heading this project, demonstrated the actions that the electrodes attached to our brain understand and react to brain signals. These signals can be transported to a computer and then to perform various actions on the Internet.

The fact to note is the absence of keyboard or mouse. The technology to work in the ‘Second life’ will prove a boon to the patients with paralysis. Concentration is key to this technology.

Still in its budding phase this technology needs further refinement as to find out the best spots on the scalp where the electrodes are super active. Once successful this technology will help the paralytic patients to buy online, or carry out a business, make new friends or adorn new avatars over the Internet.

The virtual world of Second Life, a 3-D virtual world, created by the website users, opens a new world for the people in search of a new identity, looking for adventure that is implausible in the real world. So, what we are talking about is a virtual world that is going to work solely on our thoughts. Sounds really like capturing the awesome world in our thoughts.
